An evening full of music with references to the great composer’s films and interesting excerpts from his interviews.
Pianist and composer Stavros Lanzias opens a window into the musi- cal universe of his favourite composer Ennio Morricone and presents his unforgettable melodies, soundtracks of iconic films (Cinema Para- diso, Once Upon a Time in the West, etc.), through inventive arrange- ments and inspiring performances by charismatic soloists.
A first sample of Stavros Lancia’s work on Ennio Morricone’s music was presented at Megaron-The Athens Concert Hall in October 2022, at the premiere of the screening of the documentary on the life of the great composer directed by Giuseppe Tornatore. This was followed by the sold-out concert at the Basil & Elise Goulandris Museum on 16 December 2022.
Stavros Lantsias studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and has collaborated with many important Greek artists: Dionysis Savvo- poulos, Elli Paspala, Alkinoos Ioannidis, Orpheus Peridis, Eleni Karain- drou, Nikos Xydakis and many others. His personal discography includes the albums: Return, The Journey of a Note, Dream Diary and Stavros Lantsias Trio Live at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Athens.
