Over a decade since acclaimed Irish jazz singer Cormac Kenevey was projected out of Dublin and onto the international stage with his output for UK label Candid, he is back with the announcement of a new studio album Turning Skies.
Kenevey has recognised a change in his own vocal approach on this new record “With many thousands of hours of singing behind me now and I can hear a sort of maturity coming through, and the lineage of my own story with jazz singing with some of the great figures who have meant so much to me. On Turning Skies, I can hear lots of stylistic things and identify them as influence from various people…some were intentional ‘nods’ and some that just popped in there. Amongst others, there are elements of Al Jarreau, Jon Hendricks and especially Mark Murphy, all of whom have sadly passed away in recent years.”
